| Looking for breeding home or possibly show barn This 8 year old mare is not registered but could be registered with the racking or single-footing associations, the same as her sire. She is a brown dun color, but has been called a sooty buckskin in the summer. Her sire and grand sire were buckskins so I believe she could throw a buckskin colt. She has a solid build, huge feet, goes barefoot, is an easy keeper, and takes care of herself. She is a forward horse and she has a very fast walk. Her preferred gait is the rack and she has a nice “amble” and a “fast rack” as well. She will also trot and canter. She will move nicely off of your leg and is very light. She can even side pass at a rack. She is a blast to ride as she loves to go and will go anywhere. She is not spooky, is very surefooted and has never stumbled with me. She knows where to put her feet and never gets her feet mixed up like some gaited horses. She is well-trained and has been camping many times in the mountains. She has been trained using natural horsemanship methods, but probably needs an intermediate rider. She gets a little sore in her left stifle on steep hills. She is not lame, and likes to go and will give it everything she’s got but just cannot do lots of hill work anymore. She lives on the side of a hill and runs up and down and all over on her own. She would be fine on the flat and I think she would make a good show horse with show training. She would be fine for shorter trail rides. I think she would be a great broodmare if you are interested in bringing out the gait in your colt. |
